How to Use the Days Between Dates Calculator
How to calculate the days between two dates
- Choose the start date. Use the date picker or type a date.
- Choose the end date. It defaults to today, so you can see how many days have passed since an event, or change it to a future date to count down.
- Decide about the end date. Tick Include the end date if you want both the first and last day counted.
- Read the results. You will get the total days, the same span in years, months and days, in weeks and days, and the number of weekdays and weekend days.
The order of the dates does not matter. If the end date is earlier, the calculator tells you and still shows the difference.
How Test Grade Calculation Works
How the days between two dates are counted
The number of days is the difference between the two calendar dates, which accounts for the different lengths of each month and for leap years.
Days between = End date − Start date
Counting from 1 January 2026 to 25 December 2026:
- Days between: 358 (the end date is not counted)
- Including the end date: 359 days
Weeks, months and years
- Weeks and days: total days ÷ 7, with the remainder as days.
- Years, months and days: the calendar difference, e.g. 1 January to 25 December is 11 months and 24 days.
Weekdays and weekends
Weekdays are Monday to Friday. The calculator counts them directly from the calendar, so it works for any length of time. It does not remove public holidays, because those vary by country and region.
Including the end date
By default the calculator counts the days that pass between the dates: from the 1st to the 2nd is 1 day. Tick Include the end date to count both the first and the last day, so the 1st to the 2nd becomes 2 days.

How do I calculate the number of days between two dates?
Subtract the earlier date from the later one, counting the real length of every month in between. Doing it by hand is error-prone, so enter both dates above. From 1 January to 25 December 2026, for example, is 358 days.
Does the calculator include the end date?
Not by default: it counts the days that pass between the dates, so 1 June to 2 June is 1 day. Tick "Include the end date" to count both days, which makes it 2 days. Use whichever matches how you are counting, such as nights versus days of a trip.
How many weekdays are between two dates?
The calculator counts Monday to Friday days between your dates and shows them separately from weekend days. It does not subtract public holidays, because they differ by country and region.
Can I count days from today?
Yes. The end date defaults to today. Enter a past start date to see how many days have passed, or change the end date to a future event to see how long until it.
How many days are there in a year?
A common year has 365 days and a leap year has 366. This calculator counts leap days automatically, so spans that cross 29 February are correct.
How many weeks are between two dates?
Divide the total days by 7. The calculator shows this as whole weeks plus any leftover days, so 45 days is 6 weeks and 3 days.
What if the end date is before the start date?
The calculator still gives the difference between the two dates and notes that the end date comes first. The result is always a positive number of days.
